Let’s face it, Monday is not the most popular day of the week. It even gives Sunday evening a bad name. But once a year, it redeems itself. And for the first time, people are looking forward to it, putting it in competition against the all-time favorite, Friday.

That Monday following the infamous Black Friday has become a wildly successful retail event that continues to gain momentum. For virtual stores, Cyber Monday is an especially important day considering shoppers are becoming more and more inclined to skip out on the crowds and lines, and browse with a virtual cart.

Here are a few ways a complete mobile strategy can complement your online store’s Cyber Monday presence.

  • Build up to the day of. Just like brick and mortar stores prepare for Black Friday weeks before, virtual stores can also begin marketing Cyber Monday deals early on. Starting now, your site can advertise mobile keywords or Online Sign-Up forms to grow your contact list. Why is this important? It gives your store a good contact base to send out messages and emails updating customers on what to anticipate on the big day!
  • Get customer preferences. Sometimes you don’t know what to send because, frankly, you’re not sure what they’re interested in. Once customers opt in to your message, Multi-Channel Voting allows you to get a better understanding of what customers are looking forward to their Cyber Monday spree. For example, if you own sporting goods store, you can poll subscribers about which sport they are looking to shop for, and then personalize your messages and sales information to cater to their preferences.

 

  • Remind of the big day. Schedule a message to send an hour before the sale begins to remind opted-in customers about popular products that they have expressed an interest in (read the previous section!). That way, you can prepare your contacts on what will be available for the sale.
  • Send out coupons throughout the day. You can add a little spice and excitement by sending out hourly coupons via SMS messages. All your customers have to do is text in your mobile keyword to start receiving coupons throughout the day. This way, you encourage them to stay tuned and make sure their shopping experience is a little more exciting - and rewarding.
