Text messaging has revolutionized business communication. No longer do you have to leave voice messages and hope that the person that you're trying to reach looks at the message in a timely fashion. Texting gets your information in front of your customer quickly and in a manner that's likely to be seen quickly. Historically, the downside of texting for business was having to re-write or copy and past dozens  (or even hundreds) of messages in order to reach your entire customer base. Five easy ways to get more subscribers to your mass texting program

Once you've decided on the many merits of using a mass texting program for your business and client communications, you'll want to increase your data base so that you can reach as many potential customers as possible. That means encouraging new subscribers to the program. While that may seem daunting, there are a number of easy ways to beef up your subscriber list. Below are just a few:

1. Make it easy for people to subscribe. Potential subscribers aren't going to jump through hoops in order to be on your mass texting list. If it's not easy and obvious how to subscribe, they won't spend the time to figure it out. That means doing things like having an obvious link with an easy-to-complete form on your home page, having plenty of forms (and pens) available at vendor events for people to subscribe and making your form easy to use on mobile devices. 2. Offer an incentive. Simply being able to get all of he latest information about your company probably isn't enough to entice most people to subscribe to your mass texting program. While they will likely realize the benefit of your messages after they become a subscriber, the value is likely too nebulous in the beginning to be a great incentive on its own. Instead, consider offering a drawing for some kind of prize or gift certificate from all of the subscribers during a specific period or during a vendor event.

3. Look for new subscribers across all of your marketing channels. You never know where a potential customer will first notice your company. It could be on your website, one of your social pages or even your print advertising. Be sure to have a way for all of these readers to sign up. Just because a potential customer is reading your brochure doesn't mean that they don't use text messaging. According to a recent study by Pew Research Center, 90 percent of Americans own a cell phone and 64 percent own a smartphone. The odds are that the people you are reaching by any medium are texting.

4. Be consistent. Looking for new text marketing subscribers should be a continuous process. Even when you've created a sizeable list, you'll have subscribers who move away from your market, who die and who simply change phone numbers. If you only look for new subscribers occasionally or just make it a one time event, your list is going to dwindle.

5. Encourage your employees to sign up new subscibers. Make sure that your employees all know about your text messaging marketing campaign and encourage them to mention it in all of their client contacts. Done correctly, encouraging customer contacts to sign up will make them feel like they are valued. You might even consider offering an incentive to the employee who signs up the most subscribers.
