How To Stop Receiving Unwanted SMS Texts

Posted by Jason Park on Jan 26, 2022

Stop receiving unwanted text messages by following these simple steps.

One of the most frustrating, and even terrifying things you can receive in this life are scam messages that threaten to take your possessions and information. The reality is these scammers are targeting specific demographics and people who are uneducated on scam messages. And many of you reading this are unaware that you are exposed to some scam messages because now they are coming in all varieties. This includes spam text messages, phishing, de-doxing, and many more other methods that are meant to distract you or trick you.

While everyone knows to not click links or complete tasks from numbers that seem unfamiliar or suspicious, not everyone exercises good practices when it comes to navigating the technological world. In order to stop receiving messages that you do not want, try following some of these simple steps:

  • Never respond to texts that seem suspicious

There are a couple of telltale signs that reveal whether or not a message is suspicious. This includes messages from unusual or unrecognizable numbers, messages that incorporate funny symbols or characters, and especially messages from a link that you don’t recognize. Now that many pieces of software shorten links for you, it is even more important to exercise caution.

  • Continuously report suspicious messages and scammers

There are two authorities that you can report these messages to. This includes your local authority and your cellular provider. Allowing them to be aware of these scammers will make sure that the scammers are discouraged from doing these illegal acts as much as possible.

  • Change certain settings on your phones.

One of the easiest ways to stop receiving unwanted messages is by changing the settings on your phone. On the iPhone, go into your settings application, click messages, and turn on “Filter Unknown Senders.” For Android, click Settings, and click “Spam Protection.” You can always opt to block the number altogether if the problem is isolated to a single source.

All of these are excellent ways to prevent unwanted messages from entering your text. We also recommend practicing good texting etiquette when using Trumpia’s software! Read about them here in order to get out of trouble.
