3 Ways to Pump-Up Your Email Campaign

Posted by Trumpia on Feb 03, 2012

If you are like me, you’re multi-tasking back and forth between all sorts of media. On a typical day, I’m switching between Facebook, news sites like The New York Times and, if there is ever any time to take a peek at the newest restaurant in town – Daily Candy. Oh, and let’s not forget those Google docs.

By the time I get back to my email Inbox, I'm already overwhelmed with information. So, I take care to pinpoint just the emails that are from companies that I already know have something great to offer. Then I forget the rest.

In today’s highly fragmented media landscape, it’s no longer enough to just send emails. But there are things you can do to make your email marketing campaign as engaging as it can be. Here are some tips for using your email campaign to get and keep the attention of your customers.

  • Create a Compelling Offer, Entice Them with Your Subject Line. A great way to get your customers’ attention is to make sure your subject line is short, to the point and gives people an inkling of what your offer includes. If you have something compelling to give – whether that is a 50 percent off sale, a last minute travel deal or a chance to win free concert tickets – you’ll want to consider including that in your subject line.
  • Incorporate QR Code Marketing. If you want to make your campaign more interactive, one way to do it is to include a QR Code within your email. You can get creative with your call-to-action, asking people to scan your QR Code to link to your blog and learn about some little known fact about your product or service. For example, if your business is a Chicago style pizzeria, you can include a call-to-action that says, “Find out what President Obama likes on his pizza.”
  • Invite People to Opt-In to Receive Your Mobile Coupons. Some customers prefer getting your messages via email. Others will have already opted in to receive your messages via more than one channel. Still, many others can still be swayed to opt-in to your mobile text marketing database. Inviting customers to receive your mobile coupons is a great way to spark interest in your SMS marketing program. At a minimum, you’ll want to include your mobile keyword and short code in your email. That way, people can opt-in to receive those coupons and help you realize the instant results you need to grow your business.

It’s true that marketers can no longer rely on email alone to reach all of their customers. But, even people who normally prefer email are getting harder and harder to reach. That’s why savvy marketers are turning to multi-channel marketing to give all their campaigns a boost. The email campaign of the future will be much more interactive, integrating different technologies and channels. After all, at the end of the day, marketing -- on any channel -- is all about turning customer engagement into sales, sales and more sales.
