As a mobile marketer, it’s good to know where and what types of smartphones consumers using as well as the projected use.
Smartphone Platform Marketshare
According to the IDS’s new "Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker", the global smartphone market of 2014 could see Android in second place with a 25 percent share, followed by BlackBerry, Apple, and Windows Mobile.
Consumer demand higher than expected should help the market grow 55.4 percent this year over 2009, 10 percent higher than IDC's previous forecast last quarter. Amid launches of the iPhone 4, BlackBerry Torch, and HTC Evo 4G, 269.6 million smartphones will ship this year, compared with 173.5 million last year, estimates IDC.
Mobile Content Usage
65.2 percent of U.S. mobile subscribers used text messaging on their mobile devices. It’s a leading factor in usage of phones – even in smartphones.
Sounds like smartphones will increase its using amongst consumers in the next years to come. This will allow more phone applications and geo service locations. Now the question is, have you started your mobile text messaging campaigns today?
