“For mobile to be really powerful, it needs to be integrated into the multichannel mix, complementing traditional marketing channels”,according to the panelist at the Mobile Ad Summit.

During the panelist discussion, Quentin George, chief digital officer at Mediabrands, New York stated, “mobile is mature enough now, but like we’ve seen with digital in the last 15 years, for it to be really powerful, it needs to be integrated. Mobile changes not just the way that you do marketing, but you have to have some sort of organizational readiness – how to integrate, respond and manage.” The Key is to get organized and integrate your marketing efforts with a single platform.

Yellow Pages and comScore have released a study revealing double digit growth in local mobile usage – “unlocking access to younger, wealthier, on-the-go consumers.” The study releaved mobile subscribers accessing business directories on a mobile phone “increased 14 percent year-over-year to 17.3 million users in March 2010. This increase outpaced 10 percent growth,” the report noted, “in the number of mobile media users who browsed the mobile web, used applications or downloaded content during the same time period.”

The data from the study shows that 58% of those searching for local businesses on the go are 34-years-old or younger, with more than earning more than $75,000 per year. In the past year alone, the number of people accessing businesses on the mobile Web increased by more than 16%. As for businesses and marketers, the data indicates just how increasingly valuable mobile users are as consumers.
