Regardless of which time slot you choose the one rule of thumb to always follow is to avoid sending text marketing messages after 5 pm. While customers will likely still be on their phones after 5 pm, trying to capture them after business hours (for either your company or theirs) is not great text etiquette.

Additionally, users may choose to opt out of certain platforms but not another, giving the business insight into how to best reach customers and deliver them the information they are looking for. Furthermore, this information can help companies target their messages based on the data they amass from earlier campaigns. 

Create a Sense of Urgency

Routine check-ins like “How are you?” are nice, but the text messages that really generate a response are those that come with a sense of urgency. Instead of sending a large quantity of texts, be selective and only send mass text messages when there is something noteworthy. A sale or discount that is about to expire, for example, is a great opportunity to get customers into stores or encourage them to use coupon codes. 

Include a Convenient Call to Action

As a business owner, your goal is to get customers into your store or onto your digital retail space. Customers may want to follow through with that, but they want it to be easy. Help potential customers become lifetime clients with the aforementioned “sense of urgency” text by including a clear, easy to follow call to action in your mass text message marketing campaign. If the goal is to have customers, “Shop Now!” include a link that directs them to your site. If the intent is to use a discount code, provide direct access to where they can sign up to receive it. The fewer steps people have to take to getting what they want, the more likely they will be to do it.
