Have you ever wondered why SMS mobile marketing so darn effective?  It is even more effective than social media marketing and email marketing, not to mention considerably more affordable. OK, so let's talk about why mobile marketing is so effective, then we'll cover some of the reasons you definitely want it as one of your top income producing marketing tools.

Well, I could sum it all up by asking you one single question:  "how many texts do you read and send each day?"  Yep, that's what I thought, probably a lot, probably too many to count, not that you would ever want to.  There's your answer, because just like you, everyone else also opens and reads pretty much every text they receive, which is what makes it so darn effective.  So let's dig a little deeper into why SMS texts are marketing gold.

Almost everyone owns a mobile device of some kind.  And for many of those people, their mobile device is the only source they have available to them for accessing the internet.  And as we mentioned above, text messages have an open rate of approximately 98% and only about one 1% of them are spam.  And when you compare that to an email open rate of a dismal 22%, and the majority of them being spam, it's a no brainer!  Just ask yourself which one are you more likely to give your attention?  Additionally, SMS mobile marketing also offers a much more targeted audience.  Think about it, text messages go directly to the person you want to contact and they can be personalized, which is more than you can say about social media marketing.

Higher Levels Of Customer Engagement

Most people check their phones hundreds of times each day.  It's an addiction for many and a necessity for others, most of who are anxiously awaiting the latest news, information, app, trends, and of course, text messages.  It's exciting and it's human nature to want to be in the know about everything.  Come on, admit it, you know you do.  And doesn't that sound just like you?  If not, congratulations, you one of the few people in the world who are not glued to their mobile device each and every day of their life.

Additionally, people are very careful about which brands they choose to opt-in to so they can receive their favorite brands content and promotions.  That means with mobile marketing you are more likely to have a captive audience and one who is more loyal to your brand, which makes them more likely to take action.

On the flip side, at least for now, people love receiving text messages, which becomes evident in the fact that it has a 98% open rate.  Additionally, SMS mobile marketing offers are redeemed much more frequently than print offers.  Mobile marketing is virtually an unsaturated market that isn't being utilized by the majority.  Therefore, it's time to get in on the ground floor of this blazing hot opportunity.

SMS mobile marketing allows for a more engaging customer experience.  You can send an SMS promotion or really anything, which will probably be opened, unlike email, and your customer can immediately interact with your business via two-way SMS dialog, but on their own terms.  This will ultimately create customer loyalty while building trust, and this in turn will help build your brand and your brand's reputation in the industry.

has also been proven to be more effective at driving sales, because you text a customer while they are on the go and they will therefore will be more likely to stop by your place of business because they are in the area.   Whereas email is more effective at driving online sales due to the nature of the delivery of your message.  Once you have gotten a customer into your establishment, you have more opportunities to get their eyeballs on the other products or services you have to offer.  Products and services they might not have even thought about or been interested in otherwise and therefore your efforts will result in more sales.

When using SMS marketing, you can easily track and analyze the buying habits of your customers.  You can track who is opening your messages, whether or not they are taking action and depending on the technology you're using, such as geo-fencing, you can even text them an SMS push notification when they are within a certain range of your venue.   This allows you an even more targeted form of marketing that gently nudges your customers into your place of business when they might not have otherwise planned on stopping by.
